This unit explores the theme of healthy living, including diet, nutrition, and physical activity. To introduce the units various subthemes, students view a video featuring a group of teens unpacking groceries and discussing food preferences and leisure activities. In the first subtheme, students read an Internet advice column on nutrition, based on the Canada Food Guide and discuss their diets in relation to it. Students discuss the importance of physical activity in the second subtheme and draw up a physical activity schedule for themselves. The third subtheme features a comic strip that explores the theme of good and bad influences.
