| Yukon Timeline |
Thousands of years ago, there was a land bridge between Asia and North America. People, plants, and animals crossed from Asia to North America over this bridge. Find out where Beringia is located and learn more about the fascinating and unusual animals that lived there. Click on "Teacher's Forum" from the bottom of the menu on the left hand side of the page. Then click "Beringia Quest," and then "Section 1" to read all about Beringia. When you're finished, go to "Kids Corner" to learn how to draw a moose, or to complete a word search.
Check out this Web site to learn the important events in Yukon history, from the time of the land bridge, to today.
| Yukon Timeline | |
1. Visit the Yukon History Web page. Read the article on this page. 2. There are more than 20 dates given in the article. All of them are important! However, your job is to create a timeline using only 12 dates. Click here to download an organizer to help you gather your information. Beside each date you choose, write down what happened on (or around) that date. Then answer why you think that date was an important one in Yukon's history. The first entry on your timeline, and the last, has been done for you as examples. 3. After you complete your timeline, compare the dates you chose with one or more of your classmates. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers, but you should be able to say why you included the dates and events on your timeline. |
