What would you like to do in the Northwest Territories: Whitewater raft, see the aurora borealis, take a dog team tour, or view northern wildlife? These are just some of the possibilities in Canada's third-largest province and territory! Check out this Web site to investigate the many things there are to do in the NWT.
Government of the Northwest Territories: Parks & Tourism
The Northwest Territories has vast areas of wilderness, wildlife sanctuaries, and parks. Everything you might want to know about parks and the wilderness is available on this Web site-lots of maps and photographs, too!

This activity consolidates the information provided on pages 44-47 of InfoCanada Northwest Territories . Bring to class a number of samples of postcards to share with student. Discuss the purpose of a postcard and common design elements of this form of communication. Evaluate the sample postcards on how well they communicate information about their subject, how effective is the visual, how helpful is the descriptive information, etc. Prior to students creating their postcards, discuss with them various symbols used by Canada and its provinces and territories, e.g., the maple leaf, the beaver, the gyrfalcon, etc. Make a display of the students' completed postcards with accompanying descriptions. Have students evaluate their work according to the criteria you developed when assessing the sample post cards.
