Bell Island Mine Museum  

This Web site for the Bell Island Mine Museum offers students some insight to the history of mining, as well as a photo gallery that lets them take a look right inside a mine. After visiting the site, students could create a fact sheet to summarize information.

Forestry in Newfoundland and Labrador

This site offers a 15-question multiple-choice quiz for students. Once students click on the correct answer, they're taken to a page that gives more information about the topic.

  • flakes: platforms used for drying fish
  • stages: high platforms used to keep fish safe while they dry
  • inventory: a detailed list of the numbers of specific items
  • charter: written permission given by a government
  • insular: having to do with islands
  • predominantly: mostly
  • silvicultural: related to growing and looking after forests
